From the Deacons and Membership committees: there will be TWO particularly family-friendly Sunday Worship services during the month of December.
Sunday December 1 - First Sunday of Advent
We will invite children to come downstairs after the "Message for All Ages" to make new ornaments for the large Christmas Tree that will have been put up in the Sanctuary. At the end of the service, children will be invited to come upstairs and decorate the tree with new and old ornaments while the congregation sings Christmas Carols. After the service, all are invited downstairs to the Fellowship Hall to take a tag from the Giving Tree. The tags will be for families in Worcester through Pernet Family Health Services, and also for residents of Crescent Manor Nursing Home in Grafton.
Sunday, December 15 - the Third Sunday of Advent
Instead of the usual Christmas Pageant, we're going to be doing something simpler instead, but just as meaningful and enjoyable:
"Experiencing Christmas through Story, Scripture, and Song"
We will be presenting the Christmas Story in simple, kid-friendly terms, along with passages from the Gospel of Luke, and punctuated with the Carols we all love to sing.
ALL adults and children in the congregation are encouraged to come in their own nativity costume or pick a costume they like from the back pews. All participants (no sign up required; just show up!) should arrive by 9:45 am to prepare.
When it is time for the "Message For All Ages", we will invite the children to come up front to sit on the floor of the chancel area. Two adults will narrate the Christmas Story, read the Scripture Passages, and the Choir will lead all of us in singing the Carols throughout the story.
After the service, all are invited downstairs for a Cookie Swap! To participate, please bring three dozen homemade cookies. There will be other goodies to eat too. We will swap 2 dozen, pack some for shut-ins and take some for bagged lunches for Worcester Fellowship.
